In The Field

What early action actually looks like.

Why It Matters In Somaliland

A quiet crisis, often diagnosed too late.

Non-communicable diseases take a disproportionate toll here, and diabetes is frequently found only after complications have set in.

30%+
of all deaths in Somaliland are linked to NCDs, mainly diabetes & hypertension
World Bank, 2020
7.5%
of all hospital visits in Hargeisa & Burao were diabetes-related
THET, 2022
29.9%
of adult patients at Hargeisa Group Hospital were found to have diabetes
Hargeisa Group Hospital study, 2025
~90%
of participants already on treatment had uncontrolled blood sugar
